Instructors

The clubs instructors are first aid trained, DBS checked and qualified to teach karate with the Amateur Martial Arts Association.

Johnny Wilson

Johnny has been practicing karate consistently for the past 20 years under the tutorage of Sensei Vaughan and Sensei Corrigan. Johnny is a 2nd Dan in karate and is now one of the main instructors at the club. Johnny also has experience in Judo and other unarmed fighting systems.

Andy Vaughan

Andy has been training in Karate for over 45 years, achieving his Black Belt 1st Dan in 1977 with the late Keinosuke Enoeda and his 4th Dan in 2009. Having trained with many World renowned experts of Martial arts from Britain, Japan and the USA, Andy has experience of various disciplines including Judo, Aikido, Thai Boxing, Jui Jitsu and other styles of Karate. Andy has been an instructor at Rothwell Karate Club since 1977.

Nigel Corrigan

Nigel started Karate in 1986 achieving his 1st Dan in 1989. Over the next 10 years Nigel further developed his love for Karate entering numerous competitions and passing his 2nd Dan in 1999. Nigel has been an instructor at the club since 1999 and has practiced other disciplines including Thai Boxing.

Charles Watson

Charles started training in 1974 and joined Rothwell Karate Club in November 1986. Charles has been a referee at a number of competitions and has graded in the past under Ken Commons. Achieving his 1st Dan in 2002, Charles is a regular instructor at the club.
